• after the war
The Battle of Hogwarts took place just months ago and with it, the end of Voldemort's second reign of terror. Magical creatures are scarcely found around the United Kingdom and Muggleborns are nearly depleted in numbers. Purebloods are almost just as bad off, as it would seem Halfbloods survived the best in odds.

After much debate with the new Ministry of Magic, new classes have been added and some old ones removed. The school has finally reopened after months of rebuilding, and students will return to hopefully rekindle the magical school to its former glory. Hogwarts will never be the same again, or will it? The new generation of students have arrived. The year 1998 will hopefully be a better year than the past few.

  • SLUG AND JIGGERS APOTHECARY

The Apothecary is a fascinating shop crammed with all sorts of interesting things. There are barrels of slimy stuff lined up on the floor and jars of all sorts of powders, herbs, and the like along the walls. Bundles of feathers, fangs, and claws hang from the ceiling. The whole place smells very bad, a mixture of bad eggs and rotten cabbage.

  • ASRIC WRIGHT'S ICE CREAM GALLERY

The successor of Florean Fortescue's, Asric Wright's has been fulfilling the ice cream cravings of Diagon Alley visitors for almost five years. Not yet as impressive as Fortescue's on the outside, the Gallery is famed for it's Butterbeer and Treacle Tart flavors, as well as Mr. Wright's rather fantastic facial hair.

  • FLOURISH AND BLOTTS

A large wizarding bookshop filled with shelves stacked to the ceiling, Flourish & Blotts is the primary - and perhaps only - supplier of textbooks for Hogwarts, though of course that's far from all they sell.

  • MONSIEUR MAXIMILIAN'S MAGICAL ATTIRE

When Madame Malkin retired from seamstressing, her younger cousin Maximilian took over the business. And while still selling old favorites like temperature-adjusting, beautifying, and Hogwarts school robes, Maximilian has expanded and updated his range of product exponentially. As he says: "I want to make sure everything has that certain je nais sais quoi."

  • OLLIVANDER'S

"Makers of Fine Wands since 382 B.C," Ollivander's is a narrow and shabby little shop with a window display consisting of a single wand resting on a faded purple cushion. Inside the walls are lined floor to ceiling with thousands of narrow boxes, which Mr. Ollivander chose from when trying to find a wand to match each customer. After his imprisonment by the Dark Lord, Mr. Ollivander hired an apprentice of sorts to assist him with the shop. Mr. Ollivander still selects the wands that he thinks might take to the customer, but it is the apprentice that must scramble to retrieve the selected wands.

  • MAGIX AND MEARES: ATTOURNEYS AT LAW

Magix and Meares has been around almost as long as Diagon Alley itself. Founded by Alistair Magix and Bartholomew Meares, two of the most persistent (or bull-headed as some say) men to ever set foot in London. However, the firm has since come under several new owners, and the persistence that made Magix and Meares famous has faded some. But their integrity and the large brownstone building that houses the company are (mostly) intact, and that's all that matters.

  • KNOCKTURN ALLEY

Just around the corner from Diagon Alley lies a dark, twisting alleyway devoted to the Dark Arts: Knockturn Alley. Not only are the wares sold their a bit dodgy, but the wizards hanging around behave fairly suspiciously as well. From the shops and the street vendors one can purchase, among other things, shrunken heads, poisonous candles, human-looking fingernails, and Flesh-Eating Slug Repellent
